About the wool pellets
These pellets are made here on our family farm, from nothing but 100% natural native British sheep wool. The wool is first heat sterilised and the compressed in to these powerful little wool pellets.
Slug Repellent
When used around the base of plants, they felt together to form a mat that deters slugs and snails. This is because the wool is made of tiny abrasive fibres that irritate the slug's foot.
Why use wool pellets?
As well as being effective, they are completely safe around children, pets and wildlife and contain no metaldehyde.
Retain Moisture in your soil
These little pellets can hold up to 10 x their weight in water and release it slowly when conditions turn drier. This reduces the frequency you need to water your plants. As part of this process they create little pockets of air in your soil, which helps root growth.
Slow release sheep wool fertiliser
These wool pellets slowly release Nitrogen and Potassium in to your soil to encourage healthy growth.
How Slug Pellets work
These pellets felt together to form a mat around the base of your plant. This mat is made up of tiny wool fibres that are naturally abrasive and irritate slugs feet
How to use these wool pellets
Place a layer of pellets around the base of the plant in a 10cm radius and water lightly, (or wait for it to rain), the pellets will naturally felt together forming a mat.
What this pellet is made from
Only 100% sheep wool, with nothing added. No chemicals, pesticides or metaldehyde.
Other benefits of sheep wool slug pellets
Our Wool Pellets also are a long lasting fertiliser for your soil and they help to retain water.
How to use the wool pellets
For Slug Repellent:
Place in a 10cm ring around the base of the plant to be protected. Water lightly, this will felt together to form a barrier, this should last several weeks.
For water retention and fertiliser:
Mix 100g of pellets with 4 litres of soil for potted plants.
For flower beds, mix 1kg over 2.5m2
Environmentally friendly
These wool pellets are peat-free, have no nasty chemicals or metaldehyde.
The look and smell:
When you first open this compostable bag you will notice a slight sheepy smell to the pellets, this comes from the year round grass pasture they feed on and the natural lanolin in the fleece.
The pellets are fairly dense- we manage to pack an entire sheep's fleece into every bag you buy!
These wool pellets are a warm beige or grey colour as they are made from sheep which are a range of wonderful natural colours.
The shearing:
All shearing is done by hand by a professional shearer on our own family farm, as this minimises the stress to the sheep. It is very important to shear sheep to prevent illness.
About the bags
These wool pellets are packed in 100% compostable bags. When you have finished the pellets please add the packaging to your compost bin.

The funny thing about Moorit Sheep
The funny thing about Moorit (brown) sheep is that on our farm, at least they stick together in a group. Even if they are in a larger flock of sheep, when you need to move them or there is any danger, the Moorits will always be together.
